Faith Focus of the Month
Divine Mercy Sunday
Where does Divine Mercy Sunday come from? It all began with Saint Faustina. Born from a poor family in 1905, after school, Faustina started to work to support her family. She felt that God was calling her to become a nun. In her writings, she stated that she had seen and spoken to Mother Mary and Jesus. In fact, Jesus appeared to her as the Divine Mercy and she painted what she saw. Jesus wearing a white garment with his right hand raised in a sign of blessing and the other hand touching the white garment with red and blue rays coming out from the garments. St Faustina encouraged people to pray the Divine Chaplet. She also prayed a lot for the Priests.
St Faustina tells the world that Jesus wants us to turn to Him and with a sincere and contrite heart, declare, “Jesus, I trust in You.” Following her example, we can all find refuge and spiritual strength in the Blessed Sacrament, upheld by the intercession of Mary, the Immaculate Conception.
Besides declaring her a Saint for Divine Mercy, Pope John Paul ll, also declared the First Sunday after Easter to be dedicated as the Sunday of Divine Mercy, with a novena (nine days of prayer) starting on Good Friday.

🤲🏼❤️ Catholic Social Teaching ❤️🤲🏼
Jesus calls us to love one another, and in answering this call we build up the Kingdom of God here on Earth. Our Catholic social teaching is a response to that call. Rooted in the Hebrew prophets who announced God's special love for the poor and called God's people to a covenant of love and justice, it is a teaching founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ, who came "to bring glad tidings to the poor . . . liberty to captives . . . recovery of sight to the blind"(Lk 4:18-19), and who identified himself with "the least of these," the hungry and the stranger (cf. Mt 25:45). Catholic social teaching is built on a commitment to the poor that we find in the Gospel.
